My friends and I have an annual tradition for the last couple of years to go to a steakhouse on New Year's Eve and indulge. For 2024 NYE, we chose Alexander steakhouse. The meal started off with a complimentary bread basket and crab salad amuse bouche. Both were delicious! We knew we were going to go heavy on the entree so we added truffle fries to start in the beginning. Keep it light, haha. Fries were delicious! For my entree, I shared the split-bone ribeye with my hubs. I like my steak medium well. This was cooked to perfection! It was served with a Bordelaise sauce. For sides, we shared truffle mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, mushrooms, and creamed spinach. Yum, yum, yum and yum!! A few of my friends shared the porterhouse. Sadly, they weren't impressed . And another friend ordered the Mero which she loved! Finally, we ordered the Shibuya crossing, banana bombe and ice cream trio. I personally thought the dessert was just okay but my friends loved them! The restaurant also served complimentary cotton candy and sweets. Overall, I had a great time at Alexander's Steakhouse!

FLAVOR (4/5): We tried their 7 course omakase experience and majority of the dishes were a hit! Let's start off with the free bread because the croissants are insanely buttery and flakey! They have a free started strawberry shooter which was okay. The trio appetizers blew our minds with the tuna tartar being not fishy at all, the lobster cavier was my favorite and the hamachi shots is a classic for this restaurant! The beef tataki is mouth watering and literally melts after 3 bites! The scallop is decent, the sea bass was decent. The short rib was my least favorite course, a bit too salty and a bit too dry. The steak at the end really brought us back to heaven, so tender and so delectable! The dessert was also amazing as a horchata ice cream! INSTAGRAM WORTHY (5/5): There is prestige that comes with the restaurant and if you're eating a 7 course meal it definitely instagram worthy! SERVICE (5/5): After every meal they came over to wipe the crumbs off our table cloth, always had our waters refilled without us asking and the courses flowed out so well. There was very minimal wait time between. TAKEAWAYS: Not giving it 5 stars because despite going on my birthday they just gave me a birthday card and nothing else. It's expensive for what it is but I would say to try it at least once!

Yes I'm only really there because prime rib is my thing and I'm not driving all the way to San Francisco as a local from here. The halibut they offer that comes with those tiny carrots were very balanced on butteriness and flaky and great chewy factor. The hint of herbs was underwhelmed by the saltiness but the experience was overall pleasant. The seating towards the end of the wall was most favorable than the tables with the dividers personally. It's because the rookies usually are in service at the dividers, no offense. The waiters are knowledgeable, was never served by a waitress. Desert is alright despite also being a cafe chain. They could not stop educating me about the coffee that was made by rare coffee beans by defecation from exotic animals when I was drinking it. I would sleep on the other choices of food in the menu. I love prime rib. Most decent one around here so...

I've been to the SF Alexander's 100+ times and to the Cupertino location a dozen times. It's the place we go for special occasion meals. We recently had dinner there to celebrate our son getting accepted into college. Everything was perfect as usual, from the food to the service, to the ambiance. - We started with some champagne and they brought sparking soda for our 3 kids, served in champagne flutes. The attention to detail on little things like that is outstanding. - We brought our own wine which they decanted and served. It was a 25 year old bottle and they broke the cork opening the bottle but I appreciate that they were honest about it and that it was expertly poured in the decanter so that there was no residue. The restaurant is always great about pouring more wine or water just as your glass is about to be empty. They used to have the sommelier open and pour the wine but this time it was done by our waiter. Not a big deal but it's always nice to interact with a wine expert about a nice bottle of wine. - Their bread service is one of the best around. Fresh baguette slices, mini-croissants, and a parmesan crisp served with butter mixed with scallions, and sea salt. Probably the best bread basket of any restaurant. - The amuse bouche was great. Some sort of sashimi served on a spoon. They accommodate my wife with a vegetarian option. - For appetizers we had the wagyu sliders and the popcorn crab. The sliders were prepared a perfect medium rare. The onion jam and the gruyere cheese complimented the beef nicely. The crab was good but a little under fried. The sriracha aioli on the side was also very good. - In between the appetizers they served scallops which were prepared perfectly. Very sweet with a nice flavor and texture. - For the main course we ordered the wagyu tomahawk chop which was an off-menu special. It was carved table side and prepared medium rare. The steak had great flavor with nice fat throughout which I really like. It needed more salt but we added our own. - We got truffle fries, creamed spinach, and mac and cheese for the sides. Alexander's fries are the best of any restaurant in my opinion. Cut thin, perfectly fried, and topped with truffle oil, sea salt, and parmesan. The aioli on the side is delicious. The creamed spinach was also great and paired nicely with the steak. The mac and cheese had nice texture and was creamy but was a little too sweet for our taste. - They brought dessert with a written note congratulating our son and of course, the complimentary cotton candy and sweet bites to end the meal. If you're looking for a special occasion meal, there's no better place in the Bay Area than Alexander's. It's expensive but well worth it for the food, service, and attention to detail. I've been a lifelong customer and will continue to come back.

I took my bf here for his bday and we had a wonderful experience. As a young couple, this was probably the most expensive restaurant we've been to this far, but it was well worth it! The service is excellent, every staff member is helpful, knowledgable, and welcoming. Very intimate dinner atmosphere. We each got the omakase, which is about $225 per guest. They ask what kind of water we wanted and I said still, as they didn't give the option for tap water. Next time, I would just ask for tap water even if they didn't offer bc I would not pay $12 for water if I didn't have to, this is not Europe! Before the first course, they gave us a gazpacho shot to cleanse our palette, which is not on the menu. It was sour, salty, a bit spicy. To be honest, I wasn't a fan of those flavors but my bf loved it. First course was trio of bites. From left to right, tuna tartare on a seaweed crisp. It was so delicious and full of umami flavor, I could've eaten 10 of them right there. Next, the lobster and cavier. I was pleasantly surprised at the robust flavor as well. Last, the hamachi shot. Again, this was a bit salty for my taste, but my bf loved it and that's what matters. Second course is smoked beef tataki in a yuzu dashi. The dashi broth perfectly complimented the tender beef very well. And we enjoyed the garlic chips with each bite. Third course was the seared scallop. Personally, as a scallop fan this was the star of the show. I didn't even know a scallop could be so thick and juicy yet perfectly seared. If I were to come back I would just get seared scallops as I'm personally not a steak girl. The serrano ham chip was a nice touch, it was like a fancy piece of bacon. Fourth course was the sea bass. I love sea bass and they executed it really well. The salty/sweet glaze on the sea bass was well balanced with the miso broth. Very enjoyable to eat. Fifth course was the braised short rib. Of course, it was very tender, falling off my fork as I eat it. However, it was too salty for me so I let my bf finish it. He said most braised meats are salty but it wasn't my cup of tea. Sixth course, the main course, is the kuroge washu f1 filet. There was an A5 wagyu upgrade available for this course which we didn't opt for. As expected, it was delicious. So good that we forgot to take a picture of it lol. The bed of wagyu fat mashed potato it was under was too chunky and had a strange taste, so I didn't finish it. Dessert was the "dulce de leche", which was a horchata ice cream on a flat croissant with honey comb. All aspects of it were delicious! Not too sweet and the different crunchy textures were fun. Our server brought out complimentary candy/madeleines (I forgot if they were madeleines but it tasted like it), lime cotton candy, caramelized popcorn, and a birthday cupcake for my bf. We were so full by this point and I couldn't finish the cotton candy. One of the staff kindly offered to pack a new cotton candy togo. Overall, I would come back but not get the omakase next time. It is definitely worth a try because it's a great value and I got to try many different items as a first time customer.

This. Place. Does. Not. Disappoint. From the food to the impeccable service, Alexander Steakhouse is *the* place to go for a memorable experience: a great drink, amazing sides, and a great steak. I recommend the new fashioned cocktail, filet mignon, fried rice with dancing bonito flakes, mashed potatoes, and asparagus.

5-stars all the way! From start to finish, everything was on point. To me, their strong suit is their excellent service. Everyone has a role and they dominate each position. From refills, table clean ups, surprise mini bites, food delivery, etc. Everything was great! We'd like to thank our waiter, Eddie V, for doing amazing job last night. He presented himself with such professionalism and treated us like VIP guests. He gave us complimentary Prosecco flutes, complimentary smoked salmon roe, and pumpkin pie bites for dessert. We ordered a porterhouse steak (28 oz) for about $120; medium rare with a cool center. It was served with 3 dipping service which paired beautifully with. The steak was nicely cooked but I do wish it had a better crust on it. We also paired the steak with 3 sides: mashed potatoes, creamed spinach, and lobster Mac. The best was their lobster truffle Mac because of the flavors. The mashed potatoes were just eh and their spinach was good. The sides are small but I think enough to get you full. My wife and I shared everything which filled us up. For dessert, we had their banana bombe which had vanilla-banana ice cream covered with a chocolate dome and an espresso-caramel sauce to melt everything. This dessert was perfect and definitely one of our favorites. I forgot to mention their bread basket being excellent too with a buttery and flaky croissants, white bread and this sesame cracker. The bread and butter is always a must and a hit. The cotton candy in the end is just everything and the cherry on top. We had an excellent time for my birthday dinner here. They give you this tiny cupcake with a candle and a greeting message written in melted chocolate. We will be coming back for sure and this time, I'll have a glass of whiskey. Their whiskey collection is huge here with lots of top shelf and rare labels.

We recently visited Alexander's Steakhouse in Cupertino and had an amazing night, centered around their famous omakase experience with an upgrade featuring Wagyu beef. From the moment we walked in, the service was top-notch, and the staff made us feel right at home. What really stood out was how they handled my husband's dietary restrictions. He has celiac disease and a serious shellfish allergy, which can make eating out tricky. But the team at Alexander's went above and beyond. They put together a special omakase menu just for him that was safe and still delicious, so he could enjoy every course without any stress. Their attention to detail with cross-contamination and finding great substitutes was impressive and really appreciated. The food itself was incredible. Each dish was creative and beautifully made. The star of the show was definitely the Wagyu beef--super tender, perfectly cooked, and packed with flavor. The whole lineup of courses blended traditional Japanese omakase with a modern steakhouse vibe, making it a unique and memorable meal. Alexander's Steakhouse really knocked it out of the park with their mix of amazing food and top-notch service. If you're looking for a special dining experience where dietary needs are handled with care, this place is a must-visit.

It's been years since I've dined at Alexander's, mainly because there are so many other steakhouses in the Bay Area. Last night, we tried the Omakase, their prix fixe menu. While it wasn't primarily fish as you might expect from a Japanese restaurant, it was definitely inspired by Japanese influence. We paired our meal with cocktails and a great bottle of GSM. Everything was delicious, and we were so full that we had to box up our last entrée and even the cotton candy to take home. The service was fantastic! Our server was incredibly knowledgeable about both the wine and the food, and he added a wonderful presence to our evening. Unfortunately, I didn't catch his name, but we closed the restaurant with him still taking care of us! Parking is easy, with street and structure options nearby. It's a great location, surrounded by other restaurants and dessert spots as well.

My fiance and I celebrated our 10 year anniversary. We tried Alexander, at another location, and we loved it. Our server Marshall, was super friendly, attentive and had a wonderful radio voice. He provided insightful choice for our dinner options - which we appreciated! We ordered Prime Filet Mignon and New York Strip, Hamachi Shots, and Truffle Mac & Cheese. We were offered with house bread and croissants with their house butter. Obviously, delicious but we did not want to fill our stomach with just bread. Prime Filet Mignon 8 oz; 10/10 I asked for Medium and was cooked to perfection, very tender and flavorful. Prime New York Strip 12 oz; 10/10 My fiance asked for Medium Rare and also cooked to perfection. Hamachi Shots; 10/10 very strong truffle citrus and not overly spicy with the pepper and the avocado offered a nice refreshing and creamy taste. Truffle Mac & Cheese; 10/10 Cavatappi Pasta is my favorite pasta when it comes to mac and cheese. Deliciously cheesy and the truffle was so strong it was perfect.
